# The hard command

Set up the hard command in Terminal, and every command it has: the Mac report, message checks, live traffic, network scans, NVD and MCP.

HARD for Mac includes a command-line tool that prints the same report as the app. It lives inside the app; to call it `hard`, add this line to your shell profile (`~/.zshrc`):

```sh
alias hard=/Applications/HARD.app/Contents/MacOS/hard-bridge
```

## Commands

| Command | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `hard` | Checks this Mac and prints the report. Add `--all` for minor notes, or `--json` for machines. |
| `hard check "…"` | Is this legit? for a message or link. Add `--ask` for Claude’s second opinion (sends the text to Anthropic). |
| `hard live` | Watches traffic for about 12 seconds and prints the programs online, with who they talk to. |
| `hard lan` | Scans this network’s devices, open doors and the router. |
| `hard bonjour` | Lists what devices on the network announce about themselves. |
| `hard cves` | Checks every app against NVD, waiting out NVD’s rate limit. |
| `hard engineer "…"` | Asks HARD’s agent once (sends the message to Anthropic). |
| `hard mcp` | Runs HARD as an [MCP server](/docs/mcp/). |

From Terminal, macOS may limit what `hard lan` can reach until Terminal has the Local Network permission too.
