Parents, handled.
Set HARD up on Mum and Dad’s Mac and iPhone once, together. It watches for the scams and dodgy downloads, tells you only when something matters, and gives them someone to ask who isn’t you.
On the Family plan: US$7 a month, up to six people, parents included. You’re Mum’s IT department.
You fix the printer at Christmas and talk her through the Wi-Fi on Sundays. But you only hear about the things she thinks to ask about.
-
The printer, again.
-
She searched for Zoom for book club and clicked the first result. It was an ad.
-
The fourth call this month. “The bank” has texted her: her card is locked, tap the link.
-
Another one from “the bank”. This time she doesn’t call. She taps the link.
The same month, with
.
One afternoon at her kitchen table, you put HARD on Mum’s Mac and iPhone, add it to Chrome, and pair your HARD codes while you’re in the same room. After that you look after it from your own phone or Mac, and she gets on with book club.
-
The printer, again. This time she asks HARD.
Ask HARD is a chat on her Mac. It answers in plain English, can look at a screenshot, and knows what HARD can see on that Mac. It’s there for security, but it won’t turn the printer away.
If she might be being scammed right now, it tells her to stop, hang up and call the bank on the number on her card. It never asks for passwords or codes. And on HARD Engineer, one tap brings in a real person.
-
The “Zoom” from the ad is checked the moment it lands.
HARD checks her Mac when it starts, every 30 minutes, whenever she joins a different network, and as soon as something new arrives in Applications or the folders where programs set themselves to run in the background. A download is checked for who signed it and whether it’s known.
It also finds the security updates her Mac is missing and puts the ones attackers are using first, checks her browser extensions and background items, and shows every app that goes online and who it talks to. There’s a firewall and Secure DNS too.
-
The text from “the bank” goes to Junk.
On her iPhone, scam texts go to Junk before she sees them. When she isn’t sure about something, “Is this legit?” checks a text, email, link or call. And if a familiar voice ever rings asking for money, she can ask for their HARD code to check it’s really them.
-
Another one from “the bank”, by email. She taps the link, and the fake page never loads.
In Chrome and Brave, HARD stops fake sign-in pages and lookalike sites. If she types her password into the wrong site anyway, it’s cleared before it’s sent. And on her bank’s own site, a big payment or a new payee waits while she answers six honest questions.
This one you hear about, on your own phone.
Calls about the computer this month: none.
She rang on Sunday about lunch.
You only hear about what matters.
With a managed account, the alerts that matter come to you too: a fake site stopped, a big payment paused, an update attackers are using. You see what needs fixing on her Mac and iPhone, and can nudge her about it.
You don’t see her messages, her browsing or her bank balance. HARD watches for threats, not her life.
It’s all in the Family plan.
US$7 a month, billed yearly at US$84. Up to six people, each with their own HARD, managed accounts for the parents you look after, and HARD codes between everyone. On their Mac, their iPhone, and Chrome or Brave.
Want a person who picks up, any hour? HARD Engineer adds a senior engineer of your own.
