How is HARD billed?
Personal is US$4 a month and Family is US$7 a month, both billed yearly: US$48 and US$84 a year. HARD Business is US$9 a person a month, billed yearly. HARD Operator is US$2,750 a month, or US$33,000 a year.
Prices are in US dollars. Early access terms will be confirmed when your place is ready.
What does early access mean?
HARD for Mac, HARD for iPhone and the browser extension for Chrome and Brave are ready for a first group of people, and we’re letting more in as we go. Leave your email on the app page and we’ll write once when your place is ready. Nothing else.

How do I pay?

Can I cancel?
Yes. How cancelling works for a yearly plan, and any refund, will be in the early access terms you see before you pay. Early access terms will be confirmed when your place is ready. Nothing in them takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law where you live. See the terms.
Who counts towards the six people on Family?
Anyone you add, each with their own HARD on their own devices: a partner, children, and parents you look after with a managed account. Organisers can add people and manage someone else’s HARD. Everyone else just gets protected.
A managed account shows you the alerts that matter and what needs fixing on their devices. It doesn’t show you their messages, their browsing or their bank balance. Only add someone who has agreed to it.
What if we’re more than six?
HARD Operator covers everyone in the household, in every home: partners, children and household staff. For a larger family on the Family plan, ask us.
Which devices does it work on?
Macs on macOS 14 or later, iPhones on iOS 17 or later, and Chrome or Brave (version 116 or later) on a Mac. One plan covers all of a person’s devices. Wi-Fi checks run from the Mac, so the TV, cameras, printer and router are covered too.
iPad, Windows, Android, and Edge, Firefox and Safari are coming. They aren’t available yet.
What does HARD Operator include?
Everything in Family, on every device in every home, for every member of the household. Then people:
- A named senior engineer of your own, on call at any hour.
- Discovery: two weeks on your accounts, devices, homes and people, ending in a written report ranked by real-world risk. Critical findings are closed first. Discovery is scoped and quoted on your introduction call.
- Every home’s network, secured by your engineer: router settings and firmware updates, Wi-Fi security, a separate network for smart devices, Secure DNS filtering, and every device on the Wi-Fi checked with HARD for Mac.
- Monitoring of sign-ins, breaches, impersonation and the companies with access to you.
- Concierge: “is this real?” checks, new devices set up, travel prepared.
- Privacy work on data brokers and public records.
- Recovery, extra homes and family members, included. Never billed by the hour.

Can my company pay?
Yes. HARD Operator can be paid by you or your company, and an NDA is available on request. For a team, HARD Business is priced per person.
Do I need HARD Operator to talk to someone?
No. On every plan, the Operator chat in HARD for Mac answers straight away with HARD’s agent, and our support team answers questions about the app. HARD Operator adds a named engineer who knows your household and acts for you.
Is there a free plan?
The journal, alerts, advisories and the lookup on this site are free, and so are email alerts when something serious happens. The apps are paid plans.
