BlueWallet
BlueWallet is a Bitcoin wallet for sending, receiving and storing bitcoin, with support for hardware wallets. It’s made by BlueWallet.
Criminals have used its name in fake downloads or scams, so get it only from bluewallet.io.
What it is
BlueWallet lets people send and receive bitcoin, manage several wallets and choose transaction fees. It can also follow a wallet's balance without holding the keys needed to spend its bitcoin.
Wallet keys created or imported into the app stay on the device. It can use the camera to scan payment codes and access Photos to import or save images. Its privacy policy says usage and crash information is collected, with an option to switch this off.
BlueWallet is open source and has an official Mac App Store listing. Keeping a wallet backup matters: BlueWallet cannot recover a lost private key for you.
Who makes it
BlueWallet is a collective of developers and designers whose Bitcoin wallet project began after the 2017 Bitcoin boom. Its legal name is Bluewallet Services, S. R. L.. Its website is bluewallet.io.
Is it the real one?
Every Mac app carries a signature from the developer who made it. Apple checks who the developer is before handing out the certificate, and macOS refuses to open an app whose signature has been tampered with.
The real BlueWallet is signed by BlueWallet, Apple team ID A7W54YZ4WU, or by the App Store for copies installed from there. A copy signed by anyone else isn’t from BlueWallet. HARD’s Mac app checks this for you; to check by hand, open Terminal and run codesign -dv "/Applications/BlueWallet.app", and look for that TeamIdentifier.
Its bundle ID, the name macOS knows it by, is io.bluewallet.bluewallet or io.bluewallet.bluewallet.MarketWidget. Download it only from bluewallet.io or the Mac App Store, not from an ad or a link someone sends you.
Fakes. In June 2026, Malwarebytes reported a fake BlueWallet download site that persuaded Mac users to run an AppleScript which stole passwords, wallet data and documents, and replaced copied cryptocurrency addresses. Malwarebytes said BlueWallet itself had not been compromised.
What it connects to
In normal use, BlueWallet talks to these places on the internet. A firewall that asks before apps connect, like the one in HARD’s Mac app, will show them.
