ClickShare
ClickShare shares your Mac’s screen or an application window with Barco ClickShare equipment in a meeting room. It’s made by Barco, based in Belgium.
What it is
ClickShare lets people show presentations, documents and other screen content on a meeting-room display. It works with Barco’s ClickShare equipment, either through the app or with a ClickShare USB Button.
It needs screen recording access to share your screen. Sharing the whole desktop can expose notifications and other open windows to meeting participants. Accessibility enables control from a room’s touchscreen. Optional microphone access detects ultrasound signals from nearby ClickShare equipment.
Barco supplies official Mac downloads and automatic updates. These are documented meeting-room functions. Barco also collects device and usage information; usage statistics can be disabled.
Who makes it
Barco is a publicly listed Belgian company founded in 1934 that makes display and collaboration technology. Its legal name is Barco NV. Its website is barco.com.
Is it the real one?
Every Mac app carries a signature from the developer who made it. Apple checks who the developer is before handing out the certificate, and macOS refuses to open an app whose signature has been tampered with.
The real ClickShare is signed by Barco NV, Apple team ID P6CDJZR997. A copy signed by anyone else isn’t from Barco. HARD’s Mac app checks this for you; to check by hand, open Terminal and run codesign -dv "/Applications/ClickShare.app", and look for that TeamIdentifier.
Its bundle ID, the name macOS knows it by, is com.barco.clickshare.updater or com.barco.clickshare. Download it only from barco.com, not from an ad or a link someone sends you.
What it connects to
In normal use, ClickShare talks to these places on the internet. A firewall that asks before apps connect, like the one in HARD’s Mac app, will show them.
| Address | Why |
|---|---|
assets.cloud.barco.com | Downloads app updates. |
api.amplitude.com | Sends usage statistics when enabled. |
What it can see
macOS asks you before an app can use these. You can change them any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
| Permission | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Screen Recording | Captures your screen or selected application window for sharing. |
| Accessibility | Enables touchback control from the meeting-room touchscreen. |
| Microphone | Optional PresentSense feature detects ultrasound signals from nearby ClickShare equipment. |
