Figma
Figma lets people design websites and apps, make interactive mock-ups and work together on shared whiteboards. It’s made by Figma, based in the United States.
Criminals have used its name in fake downloads or scams, so get it only from figma.com.
What it is
People use Figma to plan how websites and apps will look and work. It also includes shared whiteboards and presentation tools. The Mac app provides the same features as Figma in a browser.
The desktop app can use fonts installed on your Mac. Its included helper, FigmaAgent, runs in the background to make those fonts available. Figma says this helper accepts connections from figma.com and is not exposed to the public internet. Voice chat needs microphone access.
Figma is a legitimate design app available from its maker’s website. Its files support sharing with other people, and you can change or remove their access.
Who makes it
Figma is a software company based in San Francisco, founded in 2012, that makes collaborative design tools. Its legal name is Figma, Inc.. Its website is figma.com.
Is it the real one?
Every Mac app carries a signature from the developer who made it. Apple checks who the developer is before handing out the certificate, and macOS refuses to open an app whose signature has been tampered with.
HARD hasn’t yet recorded the signature on a real copy of Figma. Its Mac app shows who signed the copy you have.
Its bundle ID, the name macOS knows it by, is com.figma.Desktop or com.figma.DesktopBeta. Download it only from figma.com, not from an ad or a link someone sends you.
Fakes. In September 2025, a developer reported fake GitHub repositories impersonating Figma and other Mac apps. Their download links redirected people to pages offering Terminal commands or disk-image downloads; the report did not establish what the downloaded code did.
What it connects to
In normal use, Figma talks to these places on the internet. A firewall that asks before apps connect, like the one in HARD’s Mac app, will show them.
| Address | Why |
|---|---|
*.figma.com | Sign-in, files and collaboration. |
*.figma.site | Sites published through Figma. |
*.arkoselabs.com | Captcha checks when creating an account. |
What it can see
macOS asks you before an app can use these. You can change them any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
| Permission | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Microphone | To talk with collaborators through the app’s audio chat. |
