TablePlus

From Mac apps, in the HARD wiki · Updated
This article is about the TablePlus app for Mac. For every app, see Mac apps.

TablePlus lets you view, search and edit databases on your Mac or on a server. It’s made by TablePlus, based in Canada.

What it is

TablePlus is a specialised tool for working with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite. People use it to view records, run database commands and change data or table structures.

It accesses the databases you connect to using the account details you provide. Saved passwords stay in the macOS Keychain. Its Safe Mode can warn you or ask for a password before sending commands that change a database.

The maker says it does not send your database contents, queries or credentials to its servers. It collects licensing information and crash reports. If you use the optional AI assistant, your prompts go directly to the AI provider you configure.

Who makes it

TablePlus is a Canadian software company that makes database tools, including TablePlus and DBngin. Its legal name is TablePlus Inc.. Its website is tableplus.com.

Is it the real one?

Every Mac app carries a signature from the developer who made it. Apple checks who the developer is before handing out the certificate, and macOS refuses to open an app whose signature has been tampered with.

The real TablePlus is signed by TablePlus Inc, Apple team ID 3X57WP8E8V. A copy signed by anyone else isn’t from TablePlus. HARD’s Mac app checks this for you; to check by hand, open Terminal and run codesign -dv "/Applications/TablePlus.app", and look for that TeamIdentifier.

Its bundle ID, the name macOS knows it by, is com.tinyapp.TablePlus or com.tinyapp.TablePlus-setapp. Download it only from tableplus.com, not from an ad or a link someone sends you.

What it connects to

In normal use, TablePlus talks to these places on the internet. A firewall that asks before apps connect, like the one in HARD’s Mac app, will show them.
