The latest version of Android is 2026-11-05, which Google released on 2 Nov 2026. It fixes 216 security flaws.[1] Google rates 23 fixes critical, and attackers study each release to work out what it fixed.

Since June 2026, Google has put out 4 Android security releases, closing one flaw that attackers were already using.

Should you update your phone?

Yes, this week. Android security update November 2026 came out on 2 Nov 2026. None of its 216 fixes is known to be used in attacks yet. Its page lists what each fix covers.

How to update

  1. Open Settings → Security & privacy → System & updates. On many phones it’s Settings → Software update, or Settings → System → System update instead; the words vary by phone maker.
  2. Install the security update and Google Play system update. Both can be waiting. Tap each one, download it and let the phone restart.
  3. Check when your phone gets updates.Your phone maker decides when the month’s fixes arrive, often weeks after Google publishes them. A phone that no longer gets updates stays open to every fix after its last one.

To see which version you have: Settings → About phone → Android version shows the “Android security update” date.
