The browser extension for Edge
Stops fake sites and rushed payments in Edge.
Edge adds the HARD extension from the Chrome Web Store, the same copy Chrome gets. It stops lookalike and phishing sites before they load, catches your password on the wrong site and pauses big payments.
What it adds to Edge
Edge already has Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, which blocks sites that have been reported, and typo protection for common misspellings of popular sites. HARD adds what a list can’t know yet:
- Addresses with a letter from another alphabet, a digit swapped in, or a bank’s name on someone else’s domain, the day they appear.
- A Google, Microsoft or Apple sign-in form copied onto a site those companies don’t own.
- Your password typed into any site but the real one: HARD clears it before it’s sent.
- A pause before big payments and new payees on your bank, with the questions scammers hope you won’t ask.
- A check of every other extension you have, for ones that are known bad or can read your cookies.
Everything the extension does, with screenshots.
Adding it to Edge
- Open HARD’s page in the Chrome Web Store in Edge.
- Edge shows a bar at the top of the page. Press Allow extensions from other stores, then Allow. You only do this once.
- Press Get, then Add extension.
- Open Extensions from the puzzle piece and press the eye beside HARD, so its panel is one click away.
Edge keeps it up to date from the Chrome Web Store. If you have HARD for Mac, open it once and the extension’s warnings show up there too.
Check it’s really HARD
Open edge://extensions and press Details under HARD. The address now ends in the extension’s ID. A real copy, published by Flindev, is always cjombajfggahaccmdjmlfhcbibpnlcho. If it doesn’t match, remove it and tell us where it came from.
